La Compagnie Montanaro develops creative projects in the field of improvised music, new traditional music and world music. Created in 2001, it is composed of a core of musicians gathered around artistic manager Miquèu Montanaro :
Baltazar Montanaro-Nagy (violon), Laurence Bourdin (hurdy-gurdy), Serge Pesce (prepared guitar), Fabrice Gaudé (percussions) Amanda Gardone and Estelle Amsellem (double bass), Gyöngyi Ecsi (vocals - Slovakia), band Vujicsics (Hungarian music), Bujàk Andor (brass section and bracs) and Pukkai Attila (cimbalom).
These collaborations underline the permanence of the international open-mindedness and the Provence roots, a respect of cultural heritages and a laid back vision of cultural melting pots.
The nomadic artistic approach of La Compagnie Montanaro is actually based on a progressive construction of bridges between musics, so as to help them communicate and evolve ; creations assemble and intertwine to constitute either ambitious or minimalist projects, altogether varied and convergent.
The multi-disciplinary approach of shows has then become a natural evolution for among the compagnie. One after the other artists and technicians from varied horizons have in turn joined the compagnie : György Laszlò (film maker), Serge Ortega (projectionist - sound engineer), Niké Nagy (painting artist – performer) and Eliane Zancaro (costume designer).
The Compagnie is also a member of the Zone Franche and FAMDT networks.
