XARNEGE is one of the most exciting band on the folk music of South Europe as you will discover in this new Cd . There is a lot more info on XARNEGE to be found on www. xarnege. com -- 3 Gascon musicians (Joan Baudoin, Simon Guillaumin and Lucia LonguÈ ) and two Basque musicians (Josean Martin Zarko and Juan Ezeiza) with a wide experience on traditional music ( Alboka, Verd e Blu, Ganbara, Mesclam!, Euritan Blai, Un pas un saut, Pakopolen...).-- 2 cultures, Gascon and Basque, that come from the same source, the ancient Vasconia, and two genera tions of musicians: the research of tradition and the innovation from the roots. -- 1 project, Xarnege, which redescovers the music from the 'sharnËgo' villages between Gascony and the Basque Country; one CD, Musica de contrabanda - Gaueko lan musika (Contraband music), and several instruments (hurdy-gurdies, three-hole flutes, tambourins, fiddle, alboka, caremËra, besson, boha, txanbela, mandolin, brama-topin, voices...), some of them electro-acoustic, some of them made by Joan Baudoin. Xarnegeís music can be considered as traditional music, but it sometimes leans towards new and comtemporary music, neo-folk...
